Closet and Bedroom Organization

Your bedroom is a place of rest. It is where you begin your day and where you end it. How you feel when you get up in the morning may reflect on how your day goes. Here are a few tips to help you get your bedroom organized.

REMOVING THE CLUTTER
The first place to start in removing the clutter is to simply sort through it all, beginning with your closet. Selecting the right closet organizer can double and sometimes triple your bedroom storage spaces.

START WITH YOUR CLOSET
Remove everything from your closet and sort it into several distinct piles. Your piles may include - KEEP - DISGARD - DONATE - SEASONAL.

THE KEEP PILE: These are articles of clothing that you expect to use in the next 3 months or so. They will be put right back into that closet when you are ready.
THE DISGARD PILE: Put these right into a garbage bag. Whatever you do, don't look back. A good rule of thumb is that if you haven't used it in the last year or so, you're probably not going to, so throw it away or donate it to charity.
THE DONATE PILE: Many of us keep items because they show little wear, but we'll never wear them. You can feel good about getting rid of them if they are going to use somewhere else and these can make a good tax deduction as well.
SEASONAL: Keep a sturdy bin handy for these items while you are clearing out the closet clutter. During winter months, summer clothes can be stored in bins and during the summer months, those bulky winter sweaters do not need to take up needed closet space.
What about those clothes items that are going to fit when you loose another 10 pounds? If you are one of those people, like I am, I have big size and small size clothes, just in case of holiday binging and summer jogging. These should go into marked bins. Sort and mark them by size. No one needs to know but you.

During the process, your bedroom may look like a tornado hit it, but don't fret over the mess, just get it under control.
